Bounty hunter Timothy Chapman was reportedly caught with his pants down — literally — at a Honolulu shopping center parking lot.

Prosecutors charged Chapman with first-degree terroristic threatening yesterday and might also charge him with indecent exposure, a spokesman for the Honolulu prosecutor’s office said.

Police said security guards recognized Chapman from the reality television series “Dog the Bounty Hunter” when they responded to a report of a man fondling himself in a vehicle at an Ala Moana Center parking lot at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

Instead of stepping out of the vehicle as requested, Chapman got into the driver’s seat of his truck and jumped a curb onto the sidewalk toward a security guard before driving away, said Jim Fulton, spokesman for the city prosecutor’s office.

Chapman, 42, turned himself in yesterday and was initially arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and indecent exposure.

Terroristic threatening is a Class C felony punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment. Indecent exposure is a petty misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of 30 days.

His lawyer, Brook Hart, said the incident was a “massive misunderstanding.”

Hart said Chapman spilled juice or soda on his pants and went to the back seat of his Dodge Ram truck, which has dark tinted windows, to change his pants when security guards started yelling at him.

He said Chapman, to avoid negative publicity, made the mistake of attempting to drive away.

“It was simply a man who wet his pants with orange juice inadvertently and was changing them, doing nothing wrong at all and believing he had sufficient privacy to do it,” Hart said.

Chapman was released on $11,000 bail last night.

Chapman works with Duane “Dog” Chapman and is a co-star on the reality television show. Even though they share the same last name, they are not related.

A&E television network put the Chapman show on hold indefinitely in early November after the release of a private phone conversation in which Duane Chapman repeatedly used a racial slur to describe his son’s girlfriend.

Bounty hunter is still in network’s doghouse

Question: What ever happened to the Duane “Dog” Chapman family since A&E pulled their show off the air? Are they still capturing bail jumpers? Did they close the business?

Answer: Da Kine Bail Bonds is still in business, and Duane and Beth Chapman are still in charge, workers there said this week.

However, two different men who answered the phone at Da Kine’s Queen Emma Street office Thursday and yesterday would not say how often the owners come into the office since the A&E Television Network suspended taping new episodes or airing its former top show, “Dog, the Bounty Hunter,” in early November.

A&E’s move came two days after the release of a private phone conversation in which Duane Chapman repeatedly used a racial slur to describe a son’s black girlfriend.

On A&E’s Web site, “Dog The Bounty Hunter” remains listed as one of its shows, and prior-season collections remain for sale. But Dan Silberman, vice president of publicity for A&E, said yesterday he could not say when, or if, the show will return.

“Nothing has changed on our end. It’s still off the schedule for the foreseeable future,” he said.

Silberman confirmed that fans and detractors of the Dog have been contacting the network asking it to bring the show back or cancel it.

The Chapmans and their spokeswoman Mona Wood did not return calls asking for comment on their plans for their bail bond business in Honolulu or the bounty hunting TV show.

Chapman’s personal Web site has a Dec. 21 New York Sun opinion column by writer Alicia Colon praising Chapman for his apparent sincerity in apologizing for his language.

Colon met the Chapmans last month at the Congress for Racial Equality offices in New York.

CORE Chairman Roy Innis, who was one of the first black leaders to call for taking “Dog, the Bounty Hunter” off the air after Chapman’s comments were made public, is now advising him “in his efforts to seek reconciliation and atonement,” according to the social justice organization’s online newsletter.

The newsletter says Duane and Beth Chapman have been invited to CORE’s Jan. 21 Martin Luther King Day dinner in New York and includes photos of the pair posing with CORE staffers.

A sidekick of TV bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman was free on bail last night after being charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.

Tim Chapman, 42, was released on $11,000 bail last night, five hours after he turned himself in to police investigating a report of a naked man in a pickup truck at Ala Moana Center Thursday night.

A security guard who recognized Chapman told him to put on his clothes and get out of the truck, but after putting on his clothes, Chapman started his truck, drove over a sidewalk, nearly hitting the guard, and drove off, police said.

Chapman’s attorney, Brook Hart, said it was all a misunderstanding.

“It was simply a man who wet his pants with orange juice inadvertently and was changing them, doing nothing wrong at all and believing he had sufficient privacy to do it,” Hart said.

1. Pineapple: Add some sort of pineapple: car freshener, fragrance, etc.
2. Dog Stickers: You can always add some Dog stickers to your envies.
3. ‘Dog’ Pics/Logos: You can find small pics/logos that you can print out, and also add on/in the envies.
4. Add some love: Especially now that alot of stores seem to have Valentines related items for sale, we can ‘add some love’, by including love related CONFETTI in our envies!

Be Creative. You can put people stickers, representing ‘we’, a heart sticker representing ‘love’, and a dog sticker or ‘Dog’ picture, representing Dog…We Love Dog. You can look for some stickers/scrapbook stickers that are dog related, and have a dog house, with a dog in it, with a big red no sign (like no smoking, no turns….that kind of no sign), or you can get a house/home, that has welcome home signs and a dog, walking to the door, and put somthing like ‘we assist and insist with Bringing Home the Dog’.
